About
Neighbourhood intelligence for expats
Moving to a new country means choosing a place to live with almost no local knowledge. PlanetExpat turns open data into a clear, comparable picture of every neighbourhood, so you can decide with confidence.
The problem we solve
When you relocate, the hardest question isn't which country or even which city, it's which neighbourhood. Locals rely on years of lived experience; newcomers start from zero. Listings show you price and photos, not whether an area fits your life.
How it works
We score every area across six expat profiles, young professionals, families, urban buzz, affordability, rental opportunities, and green & quiet. Each score is built from official statistics and weighted to reflect what actually matters for that profile. You set your priorities; we rank the neighbourhoods that fit.
Where the data comes from
Our scores are built on public, authoritative sources, the Amt für Statistik Berlin-Brandenburg open data and Berlin's official LOR/Ortsteil statistics for demographics, housing, income and business, and Berlin's official Bodenrichtwert (BORIS Berlin) land-value data. We aggregate and normalise it per neighbourhood, city and country so comparisons are fair.
We trust revealed preference: where people actually live and thrive is a stronger signal than any engineered proxy. We don't invent "hidden gems", we surface what the data honestly shows.
Our model
Browsing scores is free. A one-time payment unlocks the full Explorer, unlimited results, filters, comparisons, CSV export and trend data. No subscriptions, no data resale.
